The 21st Century Cures Act and information blocking have recently been back in the news.
A coalition of ten provider organizations led by the American Medical Association (AMA) and American Hospital Association (AHA) formally requested that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) postpone for a period of one-year certain information blocking compliance requirements due to be implemented on October 6, 2022.
The HHS’s Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) published an over 2,000-word blog post reiterating its intent to move forward with the October 6 deadline while also seeking to clarify several issues raised by the provider groups.
