Has this ever happened to you? You log in to the NextGen® Emergency Department (NGE) module and the tabs in the system seem to have disappeared. You find yourself unable to locate the system content, preventing you from completing any patient documentation. That would baffle any detective!
So, what happened? One cause of the “disappearing tabs” issue may be due to the resetting of system security settings. There is a potential for the NGE module to revert back to the factory settings when a Windows® update occurs. For certain parts of NextGen Emergency Department to display correctly, a user needs to have their security settings properly configured.
If this has happened at your facility, simply instruct a user to log out and return to the login screen. Click the Setup button in the statement, “If this is the first time you have run the application, please run this setup script,” available on the log on screen. Follow the online directions. Be sure to close out of ALL Internet Explorer windows before running the setup script. Re-open the application. This will correct all security settings. The user tabs and patient content will return and your normal workflow can resume.
The mystery is solved and the case closed.
