Recent healthcare breaches have led to a government mandate to remove all Social Security identification (SSI) numbers from Medicare cards. Medicare officials have up to four years to remove the numbers from the cards. A plan is in motion to generate random Medicare beneficiary numbers that will replace the SSI number on the cards.
