As of January 1, 2016, both Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) began receiving payments for Chronic Care Management (CCM) services. An error in the payment calculations was made, an error of which the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is aware. Payments should have been based on the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule national average non-facility payment rate. Instead, RHCs and FQHCs have been receiving payments based on local payment rates for CCM services. No action is required by providers. Medicare Administrative Contractors will make the adjustments on any claim processed incorrectly.
