The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently found a system error which is affecting new drug testing laboratory codes. These codes include HCPCS codes G0477 through G0483 with dates of service on or after January 1, 2016. Claims with these codes will be held until April 4, 2016 by your Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC).
Providers are not required to do anything at this time, but if you wish not to have your claims held, codes G0477 through G0483 can be removed from the claims being submitted with other services. After the update to the system in April, an adjustment claim to add these codes can be submitted. MACs will correct any claims that were returned in error with these codes and reason code W7006 once the system is corrected.
