FQHC Geographic Adjustment Factor

The Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 extended the 1.0 work Geographic Practice Costs Indices (GPCI) floor. Updates to the Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) Geographic Adjustment Factors (GAFs) are made in conjunction with updates to the GPCIs for the same period.   The GAFs are now in effect from 1/1/15 through 12/31/15.

The Medicare system was updated to reflect the new GAFs on May 4, 2015. As a result, Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) will mass adjust all FQHC claims billed under the Prospective Payment System (PPS) with dates of service on or after April 1, 2015, through May 3, 2015.
