The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently issued the final requirements for the 60-day overpayment rule. Strict penalties will be imposed for not finding and returning overpayments. The rule requires all payments be returned in 60 days from the time a provider knew or should have known an overpayment was received.
