2017 Coding Changes: Chemistry

Two codes were revised in the chemistry section to simplify the reporting of heavy metal testing:

83015 – The word screen has been removed from the descriptor. It is now clarified this code is used for the reporting for qualitative analysis, and number of analytes.

83018 – The words not elsewhere specified were added to the descriptor to allow reporting quantitative measurement of the amount of each single metal present and for metals that have not been assigned a specific CPT code.

Code 83704 was revised to allow reporting of any number of the different types of lipoprotein particles and subclasses.

Code 84410 was created to differentiate secondary hypogonadism from primary testicular failure.
