These changes impact the physician claim only.
- There is a new modifier, 95, to identify these services. Use this for non-Medicare payers.
- Medicare will continue to use the GT modifier in 2017.
- Use new POS 02. Again, this is for the physician claim only.
- There is a new Appendix P to identify telemedicine codes and a star will appear in the code listing as well.
Important: Codes appear in this appendix if at least one payer pays for it. You must check payer policy as the modifier states key components must be met. For example, new patient codes are on the list but require an examination which could not be performed remotely.
