NextGen Healthcare plans to release an update to its NextGen® Enterprise FHIR API by the end of the year, focused on enhancements to sensitive data capabilities in the NextGen FHIR API.
These enhancements more closely align sensitive data logic in the FHIR API with the logic already employed in C-CDA generation. Specifically, the update leverages the sign-off, sensitive encounter, and confidential labs features in NextGen® Enterprise EHR to hold and release sensitive data.
This update enables clients using NextGen® Patient Access API to more easily comply with state privacy regulations and aspects of the 21st Century Cures Information Blocking Rule.
This release has no impact on the current sign-off, sensitive encounter, and confidential labs features and related workflows in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, nor on the C-CDA logic related to these features. However, practices will now have greater flexibility over the hold and release of data to applications (such as smart phone apps) that use NextGen® Enterprise FHIR API to access patient data.
NextGen Healthcare will perform this update automatically on or around December 22. To confirm that you have received the update, check your API version. If you did not receive the update, please open a support case with the following information:
