New Information from NextGen Healthcare on No Surprises Act and “Surprise Billing”

In 2021, the Biden administration released two rules related to the No Surprises Act. These rules were issues jointly by the Personnel Management Office, the Internal Revenue Service, the Employee Benefits Security Administration, and the Health and Human Services Department.

Effective January 1, 2022, healthcare providers are required to furnish a “good-faith estimate” (“GFE”) for self-pay patients in advance of receiving services.
