March 2020 Regulatory Patch

NextGen Healthcare continuously strives to ensure our products meet the most rigorous healthcare IT standards and actively supports complying with changes made by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) certification requirements.

March 2020 Regulatory Patch

To mitigate potential interoperability errors and inconsistent implementation of the HL7 Implementation Guide for CDA® Release 2: Consolidated CDA Templates for Clinical Notes, Draft Standard for Trial Use, Release 2.1, ONC has issued an update to its Companion Guide for criterion §170.315(b)(6) Data export.

As a result, our technical teams are developing a March 2020 Regulatory Compliance Patch to incorporate this change into our software code to maintain certification compliance by the March 21, 2020 compliance date. Clients participating in MIPS or Medicaid Promoting Interoperability or any other program requiring 2015 Edition Certified EHR Technology (CEHRT) on NextGen® Enterprise version 5.9 and higher will need to take this patch. This is a new patch based on unique regulatory requirements.

Next steps

NextGen Healthcare recommends that impacted clients apply the patch by the compliance date of March 21, 2020 (or the start of their 90-day reporting period if later) to maintain continuity with certification criteria.
