Is your telehealth solution HIPAA-compliant? Deadline is May 11

Did you know that Medicare telehealth enhancements are here to stay, but the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) HIPAA waivers are going away on May 11? The White House announced the official end of the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) will occur on May 11. Subsequently, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released policy changes that will occur when the PHE ends. Specifically, after May 11, all providers will be expected to return to pre-COVID privacy and security policies related to telehealth use, which includes ensuring your telehealth platform is HIPAA-compliant. Any practice using popular video chat applications, or any other non-compliant platform, will be at risk for potential HIPAA violations.
