In August 2023, NextGen Healthcare informed clients enrolled in the Premier Clinical Data Registry (“Premier”) that Premier announced plans to sunset their Clinical Data Registry after December 31, 2023.
Clients were also informed that Premier would furnish provider participation letters for 2023 and that NextGen Healthcare would notify clients upon their availability. These letters are now available and can be used in the event of a MIPS audit for the Clinical Data Registry Reporting bonus measure.
Need a provider participation letter?
To receive a letter, please open a support case with the following information:
- Category: Interoperability
- Topic: NextGen Share
- Topic Detail: Service – Clinical Registry
- Subject: Premier Clinical Registry – Attestation Letters
Our support team will send the letter for 2023, or past reporting years upon request. Please note: NextGen Healthcare does not warrant that enrollment in the Premier Clinical Data Registry service satisfies the measure requirements. We urge clients to save additional documentation showing that your organization utilized the service throughout your MIPS reporting period.
How will this sunset impact MIPS scoring?
Beginning in 2022, eligible clinicians and groups were required to meet the mandatory Immunization Registry Reporting and Electronic Case Reporting measures to receive credit for Public Health Reporting and receive a score for the Promoting Interoperability performance category. Clinicians have the option to report to a third registry, such as a Clinical Data Registry, for five (5) bonus points under the Public Health Reporting objective.
Effective January 1, 2024, Premier’s Clinical Data Registry is no longer an available option for this purpose. However, clinicians wishing to earn the available bonus points may choose to report to a different eligible registry, such as a different Clinical Data Registry or Specialty Registry. For more information on Immunization Registry Reporting and Electronic Case Reporting, please visit the Success Community or contact your NextGen Healthcare representative.
Are there other options for MIPS-eligible clinicians who wish to earn the 5 bonus points?
NextGen Healthcare clients can select from a list of CMS Qualified Clinical Data Registries (QCDR) providing this service. While NextGen Healthcare does not support submissions to these registries, some of these registries have developed extraction services for major EHR systems and may be able to work directly with you.
