The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has reopened the COVID-19 Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) exception application for Merit-Based Incentive Payments System (MIPS) participants (including MIPS individual eligible clinicians, groups and virtual groups as well as Alternative Payment Model (APM) entities reporting under the MIPS program.
If you feel your ability to capture or submit MIPS data for one or more of the MIPS performance categories during the 2020 reporting year was impacted by the COVID-19 health emergency, you can submit an EUC Application through March 31, 2021.
- The performance category or categories submitted for exception will be reweighted to 0% if approved
- If you have already submitted the MIPS category you are submitting the EUC application, your submission will not be overwritten, and your Performance Categories will be scored
