On June 10, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that it had approved an additional 67 applications totaling over $20 million in funding for its COVID-19 Telehealth Program, bringing to date funding under the FCC’s COVID-19 Telehealth Program to a total of $105 million for 305 healthcare providers in 42 states plus Washington, D.C.
The CARES Act authorized $200 million in overall funding for the program to help healthcare providers deliver connected care services to patients in their homes or at mobile locations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Limited to certain nonprofit and public eligible healthcare providers (including federally qualified community health centers), the program considers funding applications on a rolling basis and ill continue to approve applications and funding until the program’s funds have been expended or the COVID-19 pandemic has ended.
