Starting on 2022, clinicians and practices participating in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Promoting Interoperability (PI) program must the meet and attest to the Electronic Case Reporting (eCR) measure.
Last year, NextGen Healthcare announced the certification of NextGen Enterprise EHR versions 5.9.1 and higher. Along with this announcement we published an FAQ containing information about the covering the eCR measure and how to meet its active engagement requirement, along with information about how you can use your software’s certified capabilities to submit data to eCR registries.
In summary, clients have until day 60 of their 90-day MIPS PI performance period to demonstrate active engagement. While active engagement does not require submission of live patient data, there are steps you need to take, starting with registering your intent to submit to the public health agency in your jurisdiction.
NextGen Healthcare is currently testing connectivity to the middleware platform used by most state public health agencies to revive data from EHR systems. Upon completion, NextGen Healthcare will announce the availability of our eCR interface as a free downloadable service on NextGen® Share.
In the meantime, please review this FAQ and prepare to register your intent to submit eCR data with your public health agency.
