Shingrix – a non-live, recombinant subunit vaccine given intramuscularly in two doses – is FDA approved for the prevention of shingles (herpes zoster) in adults aged 50 and over. Installing our November Drug Interaction Medication update will allow practices to add Shingrix to their vaccine inventory in NextGen Ambulatory EHR and begin recording Shingrix vaccine administration.
Important client note: Currently, the logic behind the vaccine “Status” in the Immunization Module has not been updated to include Shingrix. The system will not recommend the vaccine until “age 60yo” (instead of 50yo) and will not recommend the second dose. This logic will be updated in a future release.
