NextGen Healthcare clients in Washington state are required to submit data to OneHealthPort (OHP) for Medicaid Services by the February 1, 2017 deadline. This includes any medical professional who renders services for a patient population having one of the following payers (Sponsors):
- Washington State Health Care Authority – Apple Health Program (Medicaid)
- Physicians of Southwest Washington – Managed Medicare risk contracts
OHP serves as the Clinical Data Repository (CDR) between healthcare providers and Sponsor payers. As such, OHP maintains a “master” list of sponsored patients and serves to route clinical information from providers to those payers in Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA) format. The requirement and steps to enroll are available here.
Important Phase and Date Information
Phase 1: Required
Phase 1 will consist of establishing a standard C-CDA submission methodology for all NextGen Healthcare clients, in order to meet the February 1, 2017, deadline.
- In order to provide a least-cost solution that is quickly deployable, NextGen Healthcare is recommending clients leverage the available Direct (XDR) transport methodology for Phase 1, using NextGen Share as the transport. NextGen Healthcare has successfully tested this C-CDA submission methodology with OHP.
- NextGen Share must be installed and is client-installable by visiting the NextGen Share website. If you do not currently have NextGen Share installed, or require assistance with installation, please contact your Sales Executive or Account Executive to determine additional cost.
Phase 2: Optional
Phase 2 will be optional and will allow for NextGen Healthcare clients to query the OHP CDR for clinical content on a patient-by-patient basis.
- The ability to query a CDR for clinical content requires a different protocol (XDS.b) and will require an additional implementation at such time as OHP makes this feature available. This will require the NextGen EHR Connect package, and carries both a Licensure and Professional Services cost. For those clients who chose to implement this feature, NextGen Healthcare will apply a credit to the Professional Services cost to offset the fees charged for implementation of the Encounter Lock Rosetta Agent.
Next Steps
A document outlining implementation requirements for each phase is available for review on the Success Community. To learn more, please read OneHealthPort Deadline Fast Approaching. We suggest this be reviewed as soon as possible to allow sufficient time to complete the process.
