CMS, ONC Release MU Rules for 2015 and Beyond

On October 6, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Office of the National Coordinator for Healthcare Information Technology (ONC) announced long anticipated final rules outlining changes to the meaningful use (MU) program for 2015 and beyond.

CMS released its Electronic Health Record Incentive Program—Stage 3 and Modifications to Meaningful Use in 2015 through 2017 outlining the final rules for a “modified Stage 2” which all eligible professionals and hospitals are required to meet for 90 continuous days in 2015.  At the same time, ONC released its final rule for the 2015 Edition certification criteria, which EHR developers must follow to certify those products for Stage 3.

The changes to the MU program announced by CMS will immediately impact all eligible professionals, including NextGen Healthcare clients. NextGen Healthcare has studied the rules so we can help guide you to meeting your MU obligations in 2015 and beyond! In the coming days, we will be updating the MU Resources page on Knowledge Exchange with new FAQs and white papers on the 2015 MU requirements.

Also, we invite you to register here and join our monthly Health Reform Simplified webinar on Thursday, October 15. In case you miss it, we will be posting the recording and presentation to the MU Resources page after the webinar.
