The Quality Payment Program (QPP) Proposed Rule released on June 20 includes changes that would amend some existing requirements and also contains new policies for clinicians participating in either the Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs) or the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).
Most critically, the 1,058-page rule proposes the flexibility to use either 2014 or 2015 Edition certified EHR technology (CEHRT) for MIPS and certain Advanced APM participants in 2018. At the same time, certain advanced APM participants, including those in the Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+) program, would still be required to use a 2015 Edition certified EHR starting January 1, 2018.
Proposals in the rule may affect NextGen Healthcare client decisions about when to upgrade to NextGen Ambulatory EHR/PM 5.9 and NextGen Knowledge Base Model 8.4 – “5.9/8.4.”
On the July 20 Health Reform Simplified webinar, our regulatory team covered the QPP 2018 proposed rule and how it impacts NextGen Healthcare clients. If you missed this important webinar, you can replay the recording and download the presentation now on the Success Community.
Also, we have posted a summary of the webinar’s Q&A, a table detailing current and proposed reporting and certified EHR technology requirements for MIPS, Medicaid Meaningful Use, and certain Advanced APMs which can be found here.
