NextGen Healthcare announces the General Release of the NextGen® Knowledge Base Model (NextGen KBM) Coded Results Mapping Version 1.0. This solution greatly improves performance-based CMS reporting accuracy, reduces the potential for large Medicare adjustments, and simplifies customized templates for more accurate capture of quality measure reporting data.
We recommend this release for all clients who meet the following criteria:
- Participate in Clinical Quality Measure reporting and
- Are live on NextGen KBM version 8.3 or higher or
- Use the 2014 Standalone Meaningful Use templates.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) updates CQMs yearly and often adds or updates SNOMED codes to various CQMs. Installing the Coded Results Mapping solution allows you to update these codes for the 2015 reporting year, and for future years, without requiring a KBM upgrade. View the table below for a list of CQMs potentially impacted by the Coded Results Mapping solution. This solution also allows more flexibility to map customized pick list entries to SNOMED codes for added data capture accuracy. Note: Pick list customizations are common for ophthalmology clients who use the IRIS® Registry. This solution also corrects situations where SNOMED codes were not updated in the KBM in time for data capture.
Important 2015 Reporting Timeline Recommendations
The Coded Results Mapping solution is recommended for all clients who report CQMs. Immediate installation is recommended prior to reporting for the 2015 calendar year for clients who:
- Use “aligned reporting” with the latest versions of certain measures such as CMS 138v3 (and using the 2014 MU Templates) OR
- Are ophthalmology users and have modified the macula pick list options while planning to report CMS 142 and/or CMS 167.
If you meet either criteria, your CQM reporting may not be fully accurate. We recommend installation of the Coded Results Mapping solution prior to February 12, 2016 to configure and enable the solution prior to HQM extraction and final reporting on March 11, 2016.
