Important announcement about NextGen Patient Portal.

A new version of Instant Medical History (IMH) – called “IMH Discrete” – from third-party vendor Primetime Medical Software will support patient-generated data input functionality in the upcoming spring release of NextGen Patient Portal.

The current version of IMH works with our core application, providing patients with the third-party email link to complete patient health information entry. This current version will be sunset sometime after the General Release (GR) of the spring version of NextGen Patient Portal.

IMH Discrete helps physicians manage patient encounters more efficiently, streamline charting with fewer clicks, and save data entry time to reduce clinician documentation.  The main enhancement is that the patient responses are now mapped to NextGen® Clinical Templates!

To ensure uninterrupted IMH/IMH Discrete functionality:

  • Understand costs—Current IMH version has been provided at no cost; there will be a nominal cost associated with the upgrade to IMH Discrete.
  • Allot appropriate time—Implementing IMH Discrete will take approximately two hours.
  • Check product versions
    • NextGen Patient Portal clients must have NextGen® Connect Integration Engine (formerly Mirth® Connect) version 3.4 or higher installed prior to installation of IMH Discrete
    • The spring release of NextGen® Enterprise PM (formerly NextGen® Practice Management), NextGen® Enterprise EHR (formerly NextGen® Ambulatory EHR), and NextGen® Clinical Templates (formerly NextGen® Knowledge Base Model) will support the new IMH Discrete and will not support the current version of IMH
    • Clients may upgrade to IMH Discrete before upgrading to the spring release. However, IMH Discrete only works with our core application until the general release of the new spring version of NextGen Patient Portal. To upgrade to IMH Discrete now, clients must already be on 5.8 or higher; 8.3.10 or higher; Mirth 3.4 or higher.
    • NextGen Patient Portal clients must complete IMH Discrete installation prior to beginning the above spring release of the NextGen® Enterprise core application.
