Welcome Rusty Frantz New CEO & President QSI/NextGen Healthcare

Rusty Frantz joins QSI NextGen Healthcare as CEO and President

On July 1, Rusty Frantz joined QSI|NextGen Healthcare as CEO and President. Last week Rusty introduced himself, and thus a new era for QSI|NextGen Healthcare, to the company’s almost 3,000 employees via a company-wide video greeting. In his greeting he outlined some observations from throughout his career and said that his two highest priorities from “day one” are the company’s clients and employees. This month he’s hitting the road to visit all major QSI|NextGen Healthcare locations. He said he wants to meet employees, listen a lot, and observe a lot.

Experience and Accomplishment

Prior to his appointment, Rusty, 48, served eight years in increasingly responsible roles at CareFusion Corporation, a San Diego-based, global acute care medical devices company of about 15,000 associates.

While serving as senior vice president and general manager for the global dispensing division of CareFusion, he spearheaded a transformational medication management strategy across three global brands, generating more than $1 billion in annual revenue. Also during his tenure at CareFusion, Rusty served as vice president of research and development in the company’s Pyxis business unit and general manager of Pyxis Perioperative Solutions, a leader in hospital and health system supply management solutions.

Chief Technology Officer, Sailor, and Surfer

Rusty also was chief technology officer and co-founder of OutPurchase, a provider of cloud-based procurement solutions and services. He began his career as one of the first employees at Omnicell, a leading supplier of comprehensive automation and business analytics software for patient-centric medication and supply management across the healthcare continuum.

Rusty earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from the Maine Maritime Academy and a Master of Science degree in engineering from Stanford University.

During his welcome video message (he plans to connect with employees every two weeks with a new video update) he told employees that when he’s not working he’d likely be close to the water either sailing or surfing.
