Clients using NextGen KBM v8.3.10: “Hotfix 3” coming later this month to support DSM-5 documentation
Clients on earlier NextGen KBM 8.3 versions: White paper available now on DSM-5 alternative workflow
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) Fifth Edition – “DSM-5” – documentation reporting requirements take effect October 1. NextGen Healthcare is creating DSM-5 documentation solutions for all NextGen® Ambulatory Knowledge Base Model (NextGen Ambulatory KBM) 8.3 version users. All NextGen Ambulatory KBM 8.3 version users – NextGen KBM 8.3.0 through 8.3.10 – should know two things:
- If you are using NextGen Ambulatory KBM 8.3.10 (not an earlier version 8.3) – You have two options:
- Apply NextGen KBM 8.3.10 Hot Fix 3 (release pending). First, ensure you’ve installed the ICD-10 hotfix for NextGen KBM 8.3.10. Find it here on the Knowledge Exchange. Then you are ready to apply “Hotfix 3 [HF3]” which we will make available on Knowledge Exchange (KE). You’ll be able to download and self-install, or, have NextGen Healthcare Client Support apply Hotfix 3/HF3 for you at no charge. You will have updated DSM-5 documentation functionality.
- Use the workaround we’ve provided to document DSM-5 without any software changes. We’ve developed an alternative workflow for clients using NextGen KBM 8.3.0 through 8.3.10 that will enable documentation that supports the specificity required by the DSM-5 standard. A white paper is available now that defines the recommended actions for behavioral health clients who need to document under DSM-5 standards but will not be using NextGen KBM 8.3.10 with Hotfix 3/HF3 by October 1, 2015.
- If you are using an earlier NextGen KBM 8.3 version (not NextGen KBM 8.3.10 HF3), and/or won’t be able to upgrade to 8.3.10 (and also add Hotfix 3, above) before October 1, 2015, we’ve developed an alternative workflow for clients using NextGen KBM 8.3.0 through 8.3.10 that will enable documentation that supports the specificity required by the DSM-5 standard. A white paper is available now that defines the recommended actions for behavioral health clients who need to document under DSM-5 standards but will not be using NextGen KBM 8.3.10 with Hotfix 3/HF3 by October 1, 2015.
