Four Ways Enhanced Release Notes Can Improve Your Upgrade Experience

NextGen Healthcare’s release notes for NextGen® Ambulatory EHR 5.8 UD2 products have been updated and enhanced to provide you a clearer path to upgrades, helping you make the right decisions early to avoid extra work later.

The updated release notes describe all of the new features and fixes available in your upgrade. The release notes also provide guidance on which new features require a decision point, and which new features require setup or configuration.

The New Features tab in the release notes includes two new columns:

  • Decision Needed, containing simple yes and no indicators to help you understand which new features you can delay implementing:
    • N (no) indicates that the new feature is implemented by default and usable as soon as the upgrade is complete.
    • Y (yes) indicates that the new feature is optional.
  • Configuration Required, containing simple yes and no indicators to help you understand which new features require setup and configuration:
    • N (no) indicates that the new feature does not need any configuration or setup.
    • Y (yes) indicates that the new feature requires you to configure the new feature and set up rights and preferences after the upgrade is complete.

In addition to the up-front guidance to help you plan your next upgrade, these release notes include the following sources of information to deepen your understanding of the improvements to NextGen Ambulatory products in the 5.8 UD2 release:

  • An embedded New Features Summary document that provides a high-level overview of the new features available to you – double-click to open it
  • Direct links to NextGen Healthcare Success Community articles containing documentation that explains new features in detail
  • Additional notes on how to set up and configure specific new features

All these enhancements to the Release Notes are available now for version 5.8 UD2 and will be available for upcoming releases.
