The 2018 CPT® Codes are now available for download. The American Medical Association (AMA) requires purchase of any codes in the 2018 code set version, regardless of whether you secure them in an electronic format or for subsequent manual entry of the codes.
All NextGen Healthcare clients have access to the 2018 Import Utility to streamline the code update process. Please refer to 2018 CPT and HCPCS Codes Update Required article in the NextGen Healthcare Success Community to find the 2018 CPT Utility Guide attachment.
Once the 2018 CPT codes are purchased, you may use the following to update your codes: NextGen Shared CPT4 Update Utility and 2018 CPT4 Codes.

Code Update Process
Clients who’ve purchased their 2018 CPT codes from an outside source (i.e. not from NextGen Healthcare) must follow the directions in the 2018 NextGen® Ambulatory CPT4 Utility Guide* to format their new, 2018 CPT file for compatibly with the NextGen CPT Import Utility.
*The CPT4 Utility Guide is attached within this Success Community article: 2018 CPT and HCPCS Codes Updated Required.
Clients who purchase 2018 CPT codes from NextGen Healthcare may use the NextGen Shared CPT4 Update Utility and 2018 CPT4 Codes** linked above.
** You must first purchase the 2018 CPT file code set before attempting to use this file. Clients who have not yet purchased their 2018 CPT codes from NextGen Healthcare, who try to open the 2018 CPT4 Codes file will receive an error message.

If you are a NextGen Healthcare Hosted client and have purchased your 2018 CPT Codes through NextGen Healthcare, a Support case will be opened on your behalf to have your 2018 CPT Codes installed.
If you are a NextGen Hosted client and did NOT purchase your codes through NextGen Healthcare (you purchased them elsewhere) please open a Support case for our Hosting Support team to load your CPT codes with the following parameters. Clients also must provide their outside CPT Code file:

Important Change for 2018
The AMA is changing how it calculates and determines CPT data file user licenses. NextGen Healthcare clients who purchased the 2017 CPT® Code Set will NOT automatically receive the updated 2018 codes as in previous years.
ACTION REQUIRED: Please contact your NextGen Healthcare account manager to purchase your 2018 CPT Code Set/Data File.
NextGen Healthcare will continue to offer CPT and HCPCS codes, as well as RVU mapping, as part of the NextGen® Coding Update File. This value-add service enables seamless importing of pre-formatted codes directly into your EHR/PM system.
