What’s new in 2018?
Beginning in 2018, participants in the Quality Payment Program (QPP), including the Merit-based Incentive Program (MIPS), will take advantage of the new Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) submission system, as well as new functionality in NextGen Health Quality Measures (NextGen HQM) and NextGen Ambulatory EHR.
On January 2, CMS announced the launch of its new submission system and outlined approved submission methods for participants, as well as the ability to receive “real-time initial scoring within each of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) performance categories based on their submissions.”
NextGen Healthcare clients are encouraged to use NextGen HQM for MIPS reporting. With the release of NextGen HQM version 5.2.2 currently scheduled for release on January 25, 2018, clients will be able to submit their 2017 MIPS data using a new API-based interface with CMS. The release notes will be posted on the HQM Chatter on the Success Community.
The NextGen HQM 5.2.2 release will include the ability to submit initial data and receive real-time initial scoring that can be used as feedback to improve MIPS performance well in advance of 2018 reporting submission.
Important NextGen Healthcare 2017 Program Deadlines:
Year 2017 submissions will be available with the 5.2.2 release scheduled for January 25. If you have already generated your file for viewing, you will need to regenerate it in the updated file format prior to submission.
Installs and Program Requests
- New NextGen HQM Installations for 2017 reporting should be completed no later than February 2
- New Program Activation requests should be submitted no later than March 2
Submissions
- 2017 CPC+ Files must be approved for submission by February 16 in order to meet the CMS February 28 deadline
- 2017 MIPS Program Configurations should be finalized by March 2 to allow time for evaluation and report generation with your final selections
- 2017 MIPS ACI, IA, and Quality Program Files – we strongly recommend that you approve and submit your files by March 16 to meet the March 31 deadline set by CMS. We expect heavy traffic on both our servers and the CMS servers.
- 2017 Medicaid Stage 2 Objectives and Quality Measures must be submitted manually by your practice through your state Medicaid attestation portal. Your quality program reports are currently available to run in the HQM Portal for you to use when your state attestation portal opens for submission. Most state deadlines are aligned with the CMS deadline of March 31. Please check your state’s Medicaid portal for your specific state submission deadline as it may not align with the March 31 deadline set for Medicare by CMS.
