CPT/HCPCS Invalid Code Analysis Scripts

The CPT®/HCPCS invalid code analysis scripts analyze 26 different locations within a client database in the NextGen® KBM where an invalid and/or revised CPT/HCPCS Code will reside. The result will be 26 different query results that can be copied or exported from Microsoft®Query Analyzer/SQL Server® Management Studio and used to indicate where customizations are required on the client’s NextGen KBM.

There are no restrictions on any version of the NextGen® Ambulatory EHR or NextGen KBM. The scripts will work on any version. No data will change as a result of implementing this process. This is strictly an analysis tool. The scripts search different areas within the templates to find the hard-coded CPT/HCPCS codes.

These data points include:

Checking for a string (SQL “like”)

  1. Trigger parameters (type 1)
  2. Trigger parameters (type 2)
  3. Template field default values and field lists
  4. Regular picklists
  5. Trigger conditions
  6. Alert triggers
  7. Stored procedure codes
  8. Template and patient variables default values

Checking for exact values:

  1. Service Item Master table
  2. Patient procedure codes
  3. Stored procedure cross reference triggers
  4. Upload extended data triggers (actcode and medAdminCPT)
  5. Templates using service categories
  6. Service categories
  7. Data within a system or practice template
  8. Dermatology tables (derm_proc_bx_destruct, derm_proc_excision, derm_proc_mohs and derm_proc_repair)
  9. File Maintenance > EHR > dbpicklist manager tables (only for non-NextGen Ambulatory EHR tables)
  10. CARD_ProcedureCategory table
  11. Medical necessity triggers
  12. DBPicklist triggers
  13. SP grid (sp_control_xref table) check
