Accessing the NextGen Hospital KBM Content Catalog

FAQ: My facility would like to attach collections screens and Medication Administration (Med Admin) screens to our normal workflow. Where can I view the full selection of screens that are available?

Answer: The NextGen Hospital KBM Content Catalog is a complete document illustrating and describing all the screens that are available to NextGen® Inpatient Clinicals (NGC) users.  NextGen Healthcare provides standard content through the Knowledge Base Model (KBM) with the installation of NextGen Inpatient Clinicals. This document provides a catalog of standard content, including standard Care Grid contents (activities and assessments), Collection forms, and Medication Administration forms.

Collection screens are used to gather additional information during the ordering process, while Med Admin screens are used to collect additional information while administering a medication or completing medication follow-up. For example, a facility will want to add the Admit Data Order collection screen to the Admit Order (via the Create Order screen) to ensure that all required information is captured to meet requirements such as the 2-Midnight Rule1.

As a new NGC KBM version is released, the upgrade Release Notes will be emailed directly to you (as well as the document being available on the NextGen Healthcare Knowledge Exchange for download.) The Release Notes only contain information on what has been updated, changed, or resolved for that particular release. The KBM Content Catalog includes all current standard NextGen® KBM templates, and includes illustrations of all the screens and their uses.

Please take a moment to download the latest version of this document, the NextGen Hospital KBM Content Catalog version 2.0.5, available on the NextGen Healthcare Knowledge Exchange2.  This document is a useful tool for ensuring your Collection and Med Admin screens are properly set up, and provides information on  training users on the available templates.
