This is an important reminder to all NextGen® Enterprise clients to reinforce our prior communications regarding 2023 certified electronic health record technology (CEHRT) requirements and deadlines.
If your organization requires the use of Cures Update-certified technology by January 1, 2023 and you are not already on NextGen® Enterprise EHR 6.2021.1 with Patch 79 or higher, your organization must take action to update your software.
This does not mean all clients must upgrade to Cures Update-certified software by December 31, 2022. We urge our clients to review the CEHRT requirements for the CMS quality programs, or other program requiring the use of CEHRT, in which they participate. Our team does not have insight into the programs that individual clients participate in, nor can we offer specific legal or regulatory compliance advice. However, as we understand the various applicable regulations:
- Providers participating in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Promoting Interoperability program must be on a certified version by the first day of the selected 90-day Promoting Interoperability performance period.
- Providers participating in an advanced alternative payment model (APM) programs, such as an accountable care organization (ACO) or the Medicare Shared Savings Programs (MSSP), may be required to be on a certified version by January 1, 2023, to meet full-year reporting requirements.
ACTION REQUIRED
If you are a NextGen Enterprise client, please complete this Expedited Upgrade Assistance Survey by September 23, 2022.
- If you need to upgrade to 6.2021.1 Cures, you should contact your NextGen Healthcare representative immediately to receive and sign a statement of work (SOW) by October 3, 2022.
- If you need assistance applying the most recent patch for version 6.2021.1, you should open a support case immediately.
As detailed in the 2020 Interoperability and Information Blocking interim final rule, December 31, 2022 will be the last day that the ONC 2015 Edition certification will be considered valid for participation in Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services quality programs. After this date, only technology certified to the ONC’s 2015 Edition Cures Update will be considered certified.
